Dear Marian:

The camp decisions made by Ontario Council were indeed very difficult. Unfortunately, due largely to a decrease in membership and the resultant underutilization of our camps, we were faced with this very challenging situation.  We certainly appreciate the dedication of both Guiding volunteers and community members over the past many years and can understand their disappointment.

Ontario Council has stated throughout that we will work with legal counsel to ensure that all requirements are met.  We will also work closely with interested parties in an effort to make this a win-win situation.

Bev Latva, Project Manager has been in ongoing contact with Deb Bell the chair of the Camp Klahanie Property Community.  She has also gathered information about other individuals, both Guiding and non-Guiding, who have an interest in this property.  I have copied her into this response so she will be able to add your name to her contact list.

Thank you for sharing your views, Marian and for your ongoing commitment to Guiding.

Sincerely,

Marnie Cumming
Provincial Commissioner
